Tomorrow, Saturday 24 October at 4:00 PM WAT, the free Application Clinic runs live on Zoom. Whatever CV and advert you bring, we start with the same three checks. You can run them yourself tonight.

1. Could this employer legally hire you?

Read the location line and the last third of the advert. Look for work-authorisation, residency and time-zone requirements. If the role was never open to you, nothing else in the application matters — and you have just saved yourself a three-week wait for an automatic no.

2. What is the one thing this role exists to do?

Every advert has a central task buried in a long list. Find it. Then look at the top third of your CV and ask whether a stranger reading for thirty seconds would believe you can do that one thing. If the evidence is on page two, it is not there.

3. Can software and a person both read it?

Text inside tables or images, unusual section names and a missing target title all cost you before a person looks. A two-column design that looks lovely to you may arrive as scrambled text. If you have not run the free CV Scan, run it tonight.

What the session adds

Running the checks is easy. Being honest about the result is harder, and that is what a live review helps with: someone outside your own head saying which part is genuinely breaking, and what to fix first.

Registration is free and still open on the Clinic page.
